Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

According to the American Dental Association, bi-annual dental checkups and teeth cleanings are an important part of maintaining healthy teeth and gums. During these visits, our dental team will thoroughly examine your mouth in search of common oral health problems so they can diagnose and treat them before they get worse. Then, we’ll thoroughly clear away all plaque and tartar and floss and polish your smile, leaving your mouth feeling refreshed until the next time we see you.

Gum Disease Treatment

Gum disease is one of the most common oral health problems, estimated to impact one out of every two adults in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If we see that you’re experiencing signs of this condition, including chronic bad breath, gum recession, and inflamed and red gums, we may recommend scaling and root planing in combination with antibiotic therapy.

Oral Cancer Screening

At each of your dental checkups, Dr. Patel will complete an oral cancer screening in search of common signs of this disease, like rough red and white patches within the mouth. He’ll conduct a physical and visual examination of your oral tissues, lips, tongue, neck, and throat to make sure that no area is left unchecked. If we spot anything that requires additional testing, we’ll refer you for a biopsy and to an appropriate provider.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a naturally derived mineral that’s produced by rocks and found in the air, fresh fruits and vegetables, and water sources. Many people know that it’s also added to local water sources and oral hygiene products like toothpaste because of its enamel-strengthening abilities. If we notice that you may not be receiving enough fluoride in your daily diet, we can place a fluoridated gel on the surface of your teeth to help protect them from the threat of decay.

Dental Sealants

Cavities are a concern for patients of all ages, and dental sealants are an effective, pain-free way to keep them from developing. Dental sealants are clear, thin layers that Dr. Patel can paint over the biting surface of molars to keep food debris and plaque from accumulating in their pits and grooves. As a result, they’re able to protect against cavity formation by making brushing much more effective.

Athletic Mouthguards / Sportsguards

If you or your child plays on a local contact sports team, you can benefit from investing in a custom-fitted athletic mouthguard. Instead of accidentally cracking, chipping, or knocking out a tooth, which will land you in your emergency dentist’s treatment chair, you can choose to proactively protect your teeth and jaw. Dr. Patel custom-crafts his mouthguards using durable, cushioning materials to make them both comfortable and provide maximum protection.
